Angers the rest day 0 miles on bikes 5 miles walking! Running total 762 miles cycling.
We have no route to follow today. We are staying in Château des Forges, Chemin du Port. Unfortunately, they do not have a restaurant tonight, and so if we want to eat, we have to go out. The good news is when I checked last night, I found there are Uber’s in the locality.

We have a late breakfast as we are waiting to see if the sun will appear so we can plan the day. The weather is much the same as it has been while we have been cycling, clouds with sunny periods. We even found it difficult to decide what to wear this morning as we were not cycling, and it was not raining. Actually we don’t have much choice in those panniers but it was still difficult.
After breakfast we sit by the swimming pool for about 15 mins and decide the wind is a bit chilly, so we take the 4 mile stroll into the medieval part of Angers and find a cafe for my compatriot to sit and watch the world go by. Then, once rested, we set off to explore Chateaux du Angers, a royal palace and medieval fortress that also houses the Apocalypse Tapestry.

After following the audio tour, we wander back through the medieval streets to cross the river to where all the cafes are. Would you believe it is another Bank Holiday Sunday, and most are closed. A young man at a bar takes us round the corner to his buzzy restaurant where we have a pleasant lunch. The sun had now come out, and the same young man organised a taxi to take us back, which pleased my compatriot as she could sit by the pool.

We sit by the pool with a beer listening to the sound of a jazz guitar and singer coming across the fields on the breeze. We think it is coming from the cafe on the other side of the river by the chain ferry we saw yesterday. Gradually, other guests arrive to try out the pool and we no longer have it to ourselves.
While we were in Angers we made an executive decision. As everything appeared to be closed today or closing early due to the bank holiday, we purchased the making of an evening picnic to eat on the terrace beside our room.

Then, prepare ourselves for the rest day to finish, and cycling to start again.
