Early breakfast and then a short drive to Eurotunnel. We met up in the car park with old friends and new.

Then, onto the queue for passport controls.

Between the British and French passport controls our friends Steve and Wendy’s car, which was behind us, overheated, and had to be pushed through passport control. We helped push and waited until a broken fan was identified.

Steve’s plan was to get on the train and then replace the fan in France. A bit of pushing and freewheeling, and use of occasional engine power got them onto the train. We continued our drive to the Nurburghring, and they repaired their car and followed on.
It was an uneventful day of motorway driving and traffic jams between which my compatriot cained the poor old engine, making full use of the lack of speed limits. Another two pints of oil are required. I have asked her to slow down as I have only 3 more days’ worth of oil at this rate.
We arrived at the hotel on the Nurburghring. Experiencing my compatriot getting into the underground car park on the UK side of the road is another story that I am sure will be repeated again. We took the opportunity to watch a track day taking place.

They changed this engine in an hour between races.

This was followed by a meal and drinks in the Pitstop bar, which is full of racing memorabilia.

A few more beers and off to bed ready for another long drive to Munich tomorrow.
