Day 7 Vineyards

Today starts with another short special stage where we are driving against the clock. We manage to get the start time right but are too slow, so our finish time wins more penalty points, and points don’t mean prizes.

Once out on the road, we are travelling through a beautiful landscape on narrow winding roads up in the hills following the road book.

The destination is a winery, where the wine producer showed us around the vineyards and explained their production method. This was followed by a typically long Italian lunch. Three meals a day with two meals that include at least four courses, and this is doing nothing for the waist line.

The afternoon was dedicated as free time, so we decided to go back to Imola on quiet roads to explore the town, and more importantly, find a five-star recommended ice cream parlour. We were not disappointed.

Imola is a typically Italian town with interesting architecture, and after a walk round, we head back to the hotel to get ready for another meal and a final visit to the bar for a night cap to celebrate my compatriot moving from the bottom of the score board. Our communication and timekeeping must be improving!
