The day started slowly after last night’s celebration of our scoreboard success of not being at the bottom.
We are free running today and take the opportunity to visit the Santerno Valley War Cemetery near Montanara, where my compatriots uncle was buried while taking part in the Italian Campaign. This visit was not, as many thought, for Sue to bury her navigator and timekeeper.

On leaving the cemetery, we realised we did not have the address of the lunchtime rendezvous location. What a mistaka to maka. We had deviated from the tulip route book shortly after leaving Imola, so this might make things tricky. We stopped at a small cafe in the middle of the mountains for coffee and to study both the route book & Google maps to find somewhere we might intercept the route. We found a town sign from the tulip route book and set our satnav in the hope we can pick up the official route.
Success, we found the restaurant and the other jobbers for a lovely buffet lunch on the route of the Mille Miglia race. The place was full of motor racing and cycling memorabilia.

The route has taken us through stunning countryside and towns.

All was going well following the route book until in Sienna we end up on a one-way street, then a dead end. Unable to get back to a point in the route book, we resorted to switching the satnav on and letting it guide us into our hotel. I won’t mention that my compatriot then got disoriented in the hotel carpark, which almost saw us driving back out onto the one-way streets.
Good news today. 1/ less oil used. 2/ no points added or deducted. Tomorrow will be another matter!
