QM2 Cruise Day 2

The cabin is very comfortable and we awoke at 08:30 or it might have been 09:30 depending on whether we looked at our phones on European time or watches on UK time.

After a wander around, we found the main breakfast restaurant with 2 minutes to spare before they closed. Now we know we are operating on UK time.

We are crossing the Bay of Biscay, which is being kind with the boat, just gently swaying. We are embracing the programme, starting with a talk about the Canary Islands, our first stop. As we had located this venue, we stayed for a very good talk by Monty Hall, which continues tomorrow.

This was followed by a walk down four floors and to the other end of the ship for a dancing lesson ready for tonights gala dinner. Not sure it will help much.

We then went for a bracing walk around the promenade deck. Three laps is a mile, but after one, and as we were passing a restaurant, we stopped for lunch.

Following lunch, rather than continuing the walk, we joined a choir practice and met a group of ladies from London who sing in the Battersea Community choir. We sat chatting until they insited we join them for afternoon tea. You can see a theme developing. More food!!

On returning to our cabin to prepare for the Black & White gala dinner, we stopped enroute for a quick snifter in the Golden Lion bar.

After scrubing up it was of to the Black and White Gala dinner. Not that we needed any more calories.

At the Gala Ball, we watched the dancers demonstrating a variety of ballroom and latin dances. Their standard was far superior to anything we could aspire to. So we retired to our cabin via the Golden Lion a little heavier and tireder, after a full day on the open sea.
