QM2 Cruise Day 4

Late starts are now becoming the norm. The rocking of the ship obviously aids sleep.

We are now heading directly for the Canary Islands, where we are due to arrive tomorrow morning. The sun is out, and it’s getting warmer.

Our first experience today is when we attend the Captains Interdenominational Merchant Navy church service. It was led by the captain and reflected on the lessons learnt from the sinking of the Titanic and the heroism shown. It was very interesting and not something I thought I would be attending.

The service must have worked because when we came out, the sun was shining, and the temperature had risen so that coats could be removed while on deck.

We then did the second unexpected event of the day, Foxtrot lessons. This was followed by a more predicable pub lunch and pint of beer. Well, we did miss breakfast.

After lunch, we relocated for a psychology lecture, which was more interesting than it might sound. We then listened to a comedian give a presentation on comedy pianists through the ages, which was very funny.

We returned to the cabin to read, and we both fell asleep until dinner time. All these activities are very exhausting.

I thought the evening was finished in the Chart Room with a jazz trio.

How wrong I was! The afternoon sleep saw us visiting the late night disco so Sue could have a dance.
