QM2 Cruise Day 11

According to the programme, it is Sunday, and we are now getting into a bit of a routine by starting the day with fruit and coffee (and Ed’s two croissants) in the buffet restaurant. This is followed by a mile or so walk around the deck.

We then go of for a talk on Port Elizabeth, which is the stop after next. While the main purpose is to sell port tours, it is good to get a background history into the area and its history.

The next presentation is by the physiologist guy on “Why do people believe in conspiracy theories?” We have enjoyed the previous talks, and this one was thought-provoking and amusing.

We then climb 9 flights of stairs to arrive on the top deck to reach the Board Walk snack bar for a light lunch before going to an art presentation on the life and works of LS Lowry. Again, this was very interesting, especially as we were invited into the art gallery for a glass of champagne and to look at some signed prints for sale. Yes, there is an art gallery on board with a selection of different artworks. I nearly purchased a small defaced £10 note by Banksy that they had on display, but it was not for sale, and my name was put on a list. However, I did find a certified one on eBay that was cheaper, so they missed their opportunity of a quick sale.

After all that culture, we separated again. Sue went off to read on deck and me to do some work on our balcony to send a response for a work related meeting I will miss next week.

For a change, we had a pre-dinner drink at the Veranda Bar. This was followed by dinner with some interesting company, then drinks in the chart room, and a late show. We could definitely get used to this lifestyle!

Just when I thought it was all over but…. we ended up in G32, the live music disco, for the dancing queen to make her knees hurt.
