QM2 Cruise Day 17

It is strange how it happens, but although we have no need to get up, we wake at 8am. In view of this, we continue our calorie loading with a full breakfast in the dining room.

The choice then is either to go on a long walk in circles on the deck or go to a lecture by Mike Dilger (from the one show). We opt for the later as we are too full to walk comfortably.

It is then time for a change of venue for the psychology lecture about why eyewitness accounts are so often wrong.

The sun is out, so we adjourn to the veranda bar on the back deck for a drink and to wait for the event of the day. “The float your boat competition.” Boats had to be made with whatever could be scavenged and were marked on aesthetics and their ability to cross the swimming pool carrying 4 cans of fizzy drink in the fastest time.

There were four entries, all excellent. My professional assessment of those that would finish upside down and who the winner would be was correct. I have made a note for future cruises.

We are treated to a lovely evening moon through the porthole.

We start the evening earlier than usual in the bar. Our excuse for this and an early dinner is so we can attend the southern hemisphere star gazing this evening from the top deck.

The star gazing was amazing with stars and other things being explained with a clear sky. Our next stop is to go to the King’s Court theatre for the late night show with the Four “D’s” however there were only three because one had fallen over in the airport and was not allowed to fly. Despite being one man down the trio, put on a great Jersey boy show.

Then we went to slum it in the Red Lion pub where Miss Money penny tells me the Martini’s are not as good as those sweved in the Chart Room bar. However, there’s nothing wrong with beer.
