Day 2 Cycling Tour de Yorkshire.

Beverly to Pocklinton the long way and the sun is shining. Ok so I lied it is not all on the flat, or even on tarmac. The day started well. Before we were 100 yards from the accommodation my compatriot managed to get her chain firmly lodged round the bottom bracket. I managed to leaver it out and we proceeded to Beverly Minster so my compatriot could look inside. I was left holding the bikes.

The trip winds its way through quiet lanes on tarmac, if we ignore the two miles on what was described as an unpaved road.

After some 20 miles of undulating countryside with great views we arrived at Market Weighton where we had a coffee, followed by an ice cream. During this break I went to Tescos to purchase a razor, because during the morning ablutions, I had discovered mine was in two pieces and it cut me to shreds while shaving. I also purchased the Sunday Times with no thought of how it was going to be carried, so returned to Tescos to purchase a bag for life. Looking at the bag I hope it is not going to be my life.

Some mile or so from the coffee break the second, or is it third, disaster was a puncture on a long uphill section. The tube was replaced, while being watched; by both my compatriot, and on the other side of the gate, a herd of cows.

Punture repaired the journey to Pocklington was uneventful. We were delighted that our accommodation was in the Feathers Pub. We spent several hours in the bar drinking and reading the paper.

After a walk around the town, or maybe our virtual world, tonight we travelled to Sardinia, for what we were told was some traditional Sardinian Italian food. Delicious.
