The hotel had suggested an 8am breakfast, which for some reason we had agreed to. Most of our compatriots had two sets of clothes. One for cycling, and one for non cycling. The rest of the pannier space being set aside for waterproofs. Most of us arrived at breakfast dressed in cycling gear ready for the ride back. Annette, however, wore one of her many outfits. We had wondered how she had fitted this in her panniers, but apparently it took the place of waterproofs.
I needed to join a Zoom meeting after breakfast so my compatriots set off for shopping in Bath accompanied by one Dave, who had been nominated to carry out husband duties. The other Dave carried out the nominated boys on their own duties and visited Bath rugby ground.
At 11 am we all met up for the ride along the Kennet & Avon canal back to Hilperton Marina where our cars were parked.
No journey would be the same without a refreshment stop. This was taken at No10 cafe, by the Avoncliffe aqueduct, where we agreed they had some of the nicest sandwiches and cakes, and as you will know by now we do a lot of research on this subject.
We arrived at the marina around 2pm and after taking bikes apart to fit into cars we set off in the various directions of home.
